MAPLE, Ont. - York police have charged a 62-year-old man after a fatal hit-and-run in Maple last weekend.
A Richmond Hill resident turned himself into police Wednesday morning and now faces a charge of failure to stop at the scene of an accident causing death.
On May 23 at about 2:25 a.m. a 44-year-old man was walking
eastbound on Major Mackenzie Drive in the curb lane, east of the GO
train overpass.
He was struck by a car that was travelling eastbound, police say. The driver fled the scene.
The pedestrian died of his injuries.
Collision reconstruction officers appealed to the public for help in identifying the driver and car, which they thought was a grey or silver 2000-2004 Jaguar XK two-door.
The investigation now reveals the car was a silver two-door 2000 Jaguar XK convertible, police say.
