This might sound like good news, especially since Sony’s pre-order window in September left all but a few players frustrated by disrupted sites, poor connectivity, and almost instant selling. But our advice is not to raise your hopes. If you haven’t already pre-ordered a console, don’t expect to be able to enter Best Buy this coming Thursday and grab one off the shelf. The launch will be online only, And we expect limited stocks through the rest of the year.

On launch day, Walmart has publicly pledged that it will have online stock of up to 3 hours on launch day:

Hi Brian. Due to the item’s popularity, it sold out quickly before online inventory recalibration. You can still buy the PS5 online on November 12 at 12 PM, 3 PM, 6 PM, and 9 PM (ET).

We still expect these products to sell out immediately, but shoppers at least know when to hit the refresh button.
