Phil Mickelson and the Charles Barclay Basketball Hall of Fame set out to defeat three-time NBA champion Stephen Curry and retired Super Bowl-winning full back Peyton Manning in the third edition of “The Match” Friday in Arizona.

Five-time main champion Mickelson and Barclay won a modified Alternative Play Show 4 and 3 at Stone Canyon Golf Club in the Ouro Valley where every golfer wore a microphone to capture a steady stream of banter.

After leading four points through seven holes, Barclay sent a dagger in the middle of the match when he spoke directly to camera and said he was bringing back the TV crime drama Law and Order in “About Five More Holes”.

Mickelson-Barclay lost the next hole and then the NBA all-stars struck 11 times with their shot at nine but the duo were 3 in the round and remained in control.

Finally, Mickelson and Barclay finished the match with a bird in the fifteenth hole, cutting them in half as Manning also dried his bird.

While Manning and Carrie were skilled golfers, Barkley struggled and mocked his game, but he was better than expected under Mickelson’s tutelage, who offered numerous advice throughout the match.

The event has been closed to the public due to COVID-19 and served as a fundraiser for historic black colleges and universities.

The first release of The Match was played in 2018 in Shadow Creek in Las Vegas as Mickelson beat Tiger Woods in a $ 9 million winning match.

The rematch was held in May at Medalist Golf Club in Hope Sound, Florida, as Woods and Manning defeated Mickelson and six-time center-back Tom Brady in an event that raised more than $ 20 million for COVID-19 relief. Prepared by Frank Bing in Toronto; edited by Daniel Wallis
