    The Kremlin announced on Tuesday that it had taken some time, but Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated President-elect Joe Biden on his victory, a day after the US Electoral College voted to defeat the Democrats of President Donald Trump.

    Putin sent a telegram to Biden to congratulate him, The Kremlin said.

    “Putin wished every success to the elected president, and expressed his confidence that Russia and the United States, which bear a special responsibility for global security and stability, can facilitate the solution of many of the problems and challenges that the world is now facing despite the differences,” the Kremlin said.

    According to the Kremlin, Putin added, “Russian-American cooperation, based on the principles of equality and mutual respect, will meet the interests of the two countries and the entire international community.”

    “For my part, I am ready to interact and communicate with you,” Putin said.

    on Monday, The Electoral College voted to support Biden’s victory In the November elections severely disputed.

    Although the Electoral College vote is usually a formality after the presidential election, it has had more significance this time, given Trump’s unsuccessful legal attempts to nullify the polling results and unfounded allegations of voting irregularities.
