That number is lower than the association had expected, when 70 families needed the assistance program this past year.
The association notes that many families sought help, but ended up finding solutions before reaching the emergency programme. So Mayor Evelyn Bowden is asking Sherbrooke residents to use this program only in the event of a real emergency.

During Tuesday’s meeting, council members will also decide whether to go ahead with a new token financial contribution requested from emergency aid users. Remember, this measure was announced last month and has dismayed many organizations in the region.
This contribution can be exchanged for a reduction in meal allowances.
