    Other films directed by women to watch online or in theaters include: dog power from Jane Campion (Silver Lion for Best Director in Venice) as well as Quebec films New Quebec by Sarah Fortin and Ines Written by Rene Beaulieu, with Roy Dupuy as the abusive father.

    Also in the festival program:

    • Twelve world premieres including confessions From Quebec director and actor Luc Piccard, and the film Evelyn Canadian director Carl Bisay, regularly at the festival;
    • Award winning movies like Engine noise By Quebec Administrator Philippe Gregoire (Prix du Best prospect in the national competition At the Montreal Modern Film Festival) and Italian Film God’s hand that of Maradona in Naples (Silver Lion – Grand Prix of the Jury in Venice);
    • The Austrian movie chasing line Who is the The festivities will end on December 5th.

    Several craftsmen from the field are expected to be on site this year to show their film, including Luc Picard and David La Haye, as well as Canadian and American production teams.

    Support the next generation

    In addition to giving significant standing to women each year, the Whistler Film Festival is also known for its support of emerging filmmakers.

    This year, filmmakers’ top films accounted for 41% of programming.

    We always encourage new talent. I think this is a gap that we have identified with other festivals in Canada.

    The festival demonstrates this support by showing the first films of the directors and by giving them opportunities to improve their skills and networking through talks, conferences and workshops by craftsmen in the field.

    One of the biggest pleasures for us is when we find ourselves in a year or two with a movie whose original spark was created on the edge of a swimming pool in Whistler.Paul Gratton says with a laugh.

    The Whistler Film Festival will be held indoors December 1-5 with healthy protocols in place, and online throughout December.

    It will also be possible to watch most films anywhere in Canada.
