The General Inspector of the Ports Authority begins an investigation into the deportation of Muslim activist Amani Al-Khattabeh from an American Airlines plane after a dispute with another passenger in Newark, New Jersey

Officials said Al-Khatatba, 28, who ran in a failed Democratic primary for a seat in New Jersey, refused to disembark from a flight to Charlotte on Saturday after being asked by the flight attendants and pilot.

Al-Khattaba broadcast the event live, as Ports Authority police ordered everyone to get off the plane so that she could be detained.

The Muslim activist said she was made the mistake following a dispute with a white man.

“They prefer it to removing one first-class person because he complained about the presence of a Muslim woman on the plane,” said Al-Khatatba, editor-in-chief of the blog. Muslimgirl.com, She says, as she records other disaffected passengers to pick up their belongings and get off the plane.

Al-Khatatba says, “He is enjoying everyone else’s day because of his entitlement and white privilege.”

Al-Khattaba said the controversy started when she cut a first-class passenger in front of her on the TSA pre-test line.

“He forced himself in front of me and said,” I’m first-rate, I check in advance, I shouldn’t wait behind you “and because I recorded everything he said I was harassing him,” he says in the recording, which was later posted on Facebook. Because I was recording him being a horrible piece …

They kept arguing on the plane. When the two sat in their chairs, the man allegedly told the flight attendant that al-Khattaba was bothering him and that he “didn’t feel safe,” a law enforcement source close to the incident told New York Daily News.

The khattaba is required to get off the plane, but refuses unless the first-class passenger is also asked to leave, according to a video posted by another passenger on Twitter.

She heard her saying to the officer: “I will not move unless he is also moving.” “Otherwise, why do you ignore his word? Because it is in the first degree? If you are going to kick me, you have to expel both of us.”

Police accused Al-Khattaba of delaying the transfer and challenging trespassing after refusing orders to leave the plane.

The CAIR civil rights group demanded the immediate release of Al-Khatatbeh on Saturday, claiming that the activist “handcuffed her and was arrested after American Airlines expelled her from a flight that allegedly prompted a male passenger to harass her.”

“Although we do not yet know all the facts about this incident, we do know that American Airlines has a history of mistreating Muslim travelers,” Nihad Awad, the national executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said in a statement.

“The airline must immediately explain why she has assigned Amani by calling the police and expelling her from a flight based on the words of a man who allegedly harassed her.”
