Malliotakis, who repeatedly attacked Ocasio-Cortez during her campaign against Democratic Rep.Max Rose, attacked her New York counterpart when asked about the future of the Republican Party.

“I think one of the reasons we ran for the elections is to see democratic women elected in 2018, and that doesn’t necessarily reflect our values, especially those who describe themselves as socialists,” Malliotakis said. “I think there is a stark contrast between what we offer and what people like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez offer. And that is something that needs to be discussed in Washington.”

House Republicans more than doubled the number of women in their convention in November, to at least 28 out of 13. The Democrats, who added a record number of women to their ranks during the 2018 election, have at least 89.

A number of House races remain unwarranted, including the challenge of New York Republican Representative Claudia Tene against Anthony Brindisi Tiny’s lead narrowed dramatically to just 13 votes as of Friday.

Malliotakis, who will be the only Republican to represent New York City in Congress, credited House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Representative Liz Cheney for their efforts to recruit “qualified women who have something to share with the American people” to gain.

“What we stand for is freedom, freedom. We love this nation. We want to see it prevail. We want to see it remain a land of opportunity, which is what, in essence, attracted millions of immigrants from all over the world, to fulfill this American dream,” Maliontakis said. “Someone like me, daughter of a Cuban shelter, I want to be there to be part of the discussion, debate and offer a counter-view.”
