The Buffalo Sabers added some depth to the guard position when they included Malcolm Soban of the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday.

Subban was ceded to Sabers in exchange for future considerations.

Subban has played five games this season with Rockford IceHogs in the AHL. He spent the 2020-2021 season with the Black Hawks. He has 82 games of experience on the Pittman Tour, claiming a 36-31-8 record, 3.02 goals-to-mid and 0.899 save average.

The Sabers have struggled to win in recent weeks and the goalkeeper’s performance has been at the heart of the concerns. Montreal Canadiens Dustin Tokarsky has a 4-5-3 average record as well as a 3.28 average and a 0.903 average. And behind him, Aaron Dale’s performance was disastrous.

Craig Anderson did well at the start of the season, but is currently injured. If he accompanied his teammates to Florida, he hasn’t trained with them yet. So his return is not continuous.
